Scope
Altenia has carried out an important revamping and repowering intervention on a ground-mounted photovoltaic system installed in Brindisi for a leading company in the sector in Italy and Europe. Thanks to new and more modern market technologies, the goal was to increase the efficiency, operational life and reliability of the plant, restoring the expected yield and remedying the natural degradation of the active components that limited their producibility.
Activity
As part of the revamping and repowering intervention, which involved the 6 subfields into which the plant is divided, all parts of the plant were renewed and replaced with the exception of the lower part of the module support structures.
The activities concerned:
- Removal and disposal of existing components (modules, centralized inverters, LV and MV panels, wiring and transformers) and masonry and layout adaptation of the support structures.
- Installation of new high-efficiency photovoltaic modules and replacement of centralized inverters with distributed string inverters, serving both the incentivized section and a new non-incentivized section.
- Construction of new electrical infrastructures: cable ducts, AC and MV lines, transformers and parallel switchboards, with consequent adaptation of the transformer substations.
- Implementation of advanced monitoring systems, with new weather sensors and integration of the components into the existing supervision system.
- Final Testing & Commissioning in accordance with the Client’s guidelines.
Results
Thanks to the repowering activities, the total power reached 11,565.6 kWp, guaranteeing the customer a renewed, high-performance plant that complies with the most modern standards.
