Agrivoltaics and sustainability: the project for Nadara in Sicily

A 46 MW plant that combines renewable energy, agriculture and land stewardship

Altenia has completed a 46 MW agrivoltaic plant in the province of Catania for Nadara, one of Europe’s leading independent power producers. The project is among the company’s most significant achievements of 2025 and represents an advanced model for integrating renewable energy generation, agricultural activities and local land enhancement.

The plant covers an area of around 60 hectares and includes 76,000 photovoltaic modules. Around 200 professionals contributed to its delivery, supporting the project throughout its entire lifecycle, from design to construction, in a context marked by significant engineering complexity.

Particular attention was given to operational efficiency and environmental sustainability, through the adoption of innovative technical solutions. These include drainage channels for rainwater management and cable overpasses designed to simplify maintenance activities and improve the plant’s overall reliability.

The project confirms Altenia’s commitment to developing sustainable energy solutions and shows how agriculture, renewable energy and environmental protection can coexist in a balanced way, contributing to decarbonisation goals and the sustainable development of local communities.
