Thanks to a new technology, the plant produces green hydrogen for the local network of Medea (Italgas Group)
Altenia participated in the realization of the Hyround project, the first plant in Italy for the production of green hydrogen directly connected to the gas distribution network. In particular, our company was involved in the design and construction of a solar park of over 1,700 modules for a peak power of 1 MW, contributing to the creation of an innovative and sustainable energy system in the territory of Sestu, in the province of Cagliari.
The project uses the “Power-to-gas” technology that Italgas is applying in Sardinia, after a study phase carried out in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Turin and the CRS4 Research Centre. This technology makes it possible to convert electricity generated from renewable sources into hydrogen, without emissions, thanks to the electrolysis of water.
