Construction of a hydroelectric power plant in Chile

Area: Hydropower

Scope

STE Energy, a subsiadiary of Altenia, has built the Lircay hydroelectric power plant, located in the Maule River Valley, Talca Province, Chile. The 20 MW plant produces around 130 GWh per year, enough to cover the needs of a city of 100,000 inhabitants, replacing 53,000 barrels of oil and reducing annual CO₂ emissions by 52,000 tonnes.

Activity

  • Supply and complete installation of electromechanical systems;
  • Assembly of 2 Pelton turbines of 9.5 MW each;
  • Implementation of electrical and automation systems;
  • On-site testing and commissioning.

Results

The Lircay plant confirms STE Energy’s leadership in the construction of hydroelectric plants at an international level and represents a significant step in the sustainable development program of hydroelectric resources in South America. The work testifies to STE Energy’s constant commitment to providing efficient, sustainable and technologically advanced energy solutions.
