Scope

Altenia has built a 150/30 kV user substation in Carcarello – Tarquinia (VT), designed to connect two photovoltaic plants located in northern Lazio. The project was carried out on behalf of a renowned multinational company operating in the industrial and energy sectors, a global leader in metallurgy and power generation.

Activities

Following the signing of a turnkey EPC contract, Altenia carried out all the activities required to complete the HV/MV substation. The works, which began in July 2024, were completed with the energization of the plants within the contractual delivery date.

The main activities included:

  • Development of the complete executive design of the HV/MV substation and detailed engineering;
  • Civil works: construction of station buildings, transformer foundations, oil collection tanks, concrete perimeter wall, trenches, and water drainage systems;
  • Electrical works: LV and MV connections, supply and installation of transformers and MV switchgears, HV busbar system, CTs, VTs, disconnectors, and circuit breakers;
  • HV transformer installation: technical assistance for installation, assembly, and commissioning of the transformer supplied by the client;
  • Implementation of remote protection and control systems, in line with the latest standards and Terna’s technical requirements;
  • Final Testing & Commissioning of all works, in full compliance with the client’s guidelines and applicable regulations.

Results

Thanks to Altenia’s contribution, the client successfully connected the photovoltaic plants to the High Voltage grid, achieving a total installed capacity of approximately 40 MWp.
